ISAT test coming up soon!

Dear Parents and students,

The ISAT test is coming up soon.  Your child will have two homework assignments over the short break due on Tuesday 2/16/2010.  Take advantage of the websites on my blog to review geometry, probability, measures of central tendency, etc.  The more your child reviews these concepts, the better they will do on the ISAT test!.  Don’t forget about the practice ISAT tests on the web.  It wouldn’t hurt to have your child take it again.  Have a great weekend!

Geometry Test Friday 2/5/2010

Study for the geometry test.  It will cover area, interior angles of triangles and quadrilaterals, angles, similar triangles, PYthagorean Theorem, and  volume.  You have the materials to study all of these concepts along with the web-sites suggested i9n the previous post.  Happy studying!

Visit Geometry Sites for ISAT help!

Hello students and parents.  A significant portion of the ISAT test is geometry.  We have just reviewed area and perimeter (Canter students covered this extensively last year).  Over the next two weeks we will study angle measurements, interior angles of triangles and quadrilaterals, similar triangles, and volume and surface area.  We will be applying concepts we have covered this year, for example writing equations to find missing angle measurements in a triangle.  If students are having difficulty keeping up, I am suggesting two websites that cover this same material.  The web-sites are http://www.math.com and http://aaamath.com.  We all need to work hard to prepare for ISAT testing and take responsibility for our own learning.  There are links to other cool math sites on my blog.  Happy studying!

Start gearing up for the ISAT test over winter break!

Parents have asked if there is a better way to prepare students for the important ISAT tests at home.  The short answer is yes!  We’re going to start this process over Christmas break.  Together, we will use the sample tests on the following website as required preparation over Christmas break:

http://metacat2.com/iltestlinks.html

All 8th grade students are required to take both the 7th and 8th grade online sample tests while in the presence of an adult.

Ask your child about the form so that he or she can get the 20 homework points.

Have a great Holiday.  Come back to school refreshed and ready to work!
